Risk Disclosure
What BotFinder is, what it is not, and the risks of trading with automated strategies.
BotFinder is an information service. It is not investment advice, not a recommendation to buy, sell or use any trading strategy, and not a brokerage. Nothing on this site is personalised to your situation, your capital or your risk tolerance, because we know none of them.
Automated trading can lose money — including all of it
Trading leveraged instruments carries a high risk of loss. Automated strategies do not remove that risk; they execute it faster and without hesitation. A strategy that performed well for years can lose in weeks when market conditions change, and past results — verified or not — say nothing certain about future ones.
Never deploy capital you cannot afford to lose entirely.
What the BotFinder score is
The score summarises the evidence available to us about a strategy: how its performance was established, how much of it we could verify, and how much is simply claimed. It measures the quality of the proof, not the quality of the future returns. A high score means a claim is well supported — never that a strategy will be profitable.
Its five components are set out on the methodology page.
Where our data comes from, and what it is worth
Every entry records its source, the source URL and the date it was collected, and carries a performance status:
- Broker-verified — the figures come from a third party that reads the trading account directly. This is the strongest evidence we publish, and it is still historical.
- Backtest only — the figures come from a simulation over past data, published by the strategy’s own vendor. Backtests are trivially optimised after the fact and routinely overstate real results.
- Publisher claimed — the vendor states the figures; we recorded the claim and could not confirm it.
- Unverified — collected, with no evidence grade established.
What we do not do
- We do not audit vendors, we do not confirm account ownership, and we do not check capital.
- We do not hash-lock or tamper-proof trade histories.
- We do not test strategies against prop-firm rule sets.
- We hold no account on your behalf, and we cannot detect a vendor who fabricates a statement we have no way to check.
Strategies run by the publisher — conflict of interest
The catalogue also lists strategies developed and run by the publisher of BotFinder itself (publisher “H2WI”, tagged as the publisher’s own bots). They run on demo accounts; their figures are computed from their own trade journals and are not verified by any third party. They are graded and scored by exactly the same rules as every other listing, and receive no placement advantage. You should nonetheless read them knowing that we have an interest in them.
Automated analysis
Some written analysis on this site is produced with the assistance of automated language models. It is generated from the collected data only, and can be wrong or incomplete. It is a reading aid, never a substitute for your own diligence, and never a recommendation.
Fees and third parties
Strategy vendors, brokers and proprietary trading firms mentioned here are independent third parties. We do not control their pricing, their terms, or whether they honour them. Any transaction you enter into with them is strictly between you and them.
Your responsibility
You alone decide what to trade and with how much. Consider seeking advice from a licensed professional in your jurisdiction before committing capital. Some products described here may not be lawfully available to you where you live — that is yours to check.
